1. No cell phones while you're driving period! No texting, talking, surfing the web or whatever you do while your driving and on your phone...you just can't have a cell phone in your hand while you're driving.
2. This is kinda stupid, but there isn't a doggie daycare near by to take Vida to when we go out of town...there are kennels, but I just feel bad locking her up in a cage when she could be somewhere playing with all of her doggie friends! The closest one is in Napa and it's $44/day! That's ridiculous!
3. Drivers are crazy and apparently no one's blinkers work...
4. It never rains...since we've been here the closest thing we've seen to rain are a few clouds, not even dark clouds. Apparently winter is the "rainy season" though. It rains here and it snows in the mountains!
5. None of the houses out here have basements due to the threat of earthquakes...where am I supposed to store all my crap?!
6. The weather is so ridiculously awesome that we don't even use our air conditioner! We've turned it on for a total of 6 days since we've been here! The weather also changes at least 20 degrees from daytime to nighttime temperatures...which makes for some seriously chilly nights considering it has been about 75 everyday.
7. I miss the Atlanta radio stations as crazy as that sounds! They are frequently playing songs that were popular when I was in 6th grade...
8. We have 3 garbage cans... one for trash, one for recycling, and one for decomposable stuff. I love this because I love to recycle! You should see how much recycling has cut down on our trash!
9. The toll roads our here are CRAZY! They are anywhere from $4-$6 depending on the day and time of day...and you don't get a break unless you have are in the carpool lane with a special sticker...even then it's $2.50. Think about it...that's anywhere from $5(if you're carpooling) a day to $12 a day to go to work! There is no way around the tolls for the most part and if you can get around them, it is waayyyyyy out of the way. I feel like I'm trapped in a 20 mile radius!
10. This might be a stretch, but people seem to eat healthier and live a little bit healthier life styles out here...it could be that everyone just wants to be outside because the weather's so nice.
11. I think they grow every type of produce out here! Avocados, cantaloupes, watermelons, oranges, apples, limes, lemons, cucumbers, peppers, strawberries, peaches, mangos...the list goes on and on and on! I went to a local market the other day and got 3 pints of strawberries, 4 peaches, 2 peppers, 2 cucumbers, and 2 cantaloupes all for (get this!!) $8. I know all you guys (if any) who are reading this are like so what?! but I don't think you understand...I felt like I was stealing something!
On that note, I'm going to head out and go by some stuff for dinner tonight! Have a great weekend:)
On that note, I'm going to go to the market down the street and get some fresh fruit!
